Saving lives and Honoring Wishes

RightCare Immediate Resuscitation Accreditation

Due to risk management liability, most Life Plan Communities will not provide life saving measures during cardiac arrest prior to arrival of first responders. Average response time for first responders is 5-7 minutes; after the brain has begun to die. Residents may also have Do Not Resuscitate orders but frequently the Do Not Resuscitate documentation is not made available at the time of an emergency. As a result, the resident with or without immediate CPR is provided resuscitation measures by arriving first responders against his/her wishes, contrary to the Do Not Resuscitate, with catastrophic neurological results.

RightCare has developed an Immediate Resuscitation Accreditation program that addresses these needs and is based on best-practice care. Immediate Resuscitation Accreditation campuses can be found in our Immediate Resuscitation Accreditation Database.

RightCare Immediate Resuscitation Accreditation ensures:

  • Best practice emergency protocols including best practice out-of-hospital Immediate Resuscitation.
  • Trained and certified emergency response teams.
  • Campus wide 24-hour coverage.
  • Sufficient resources and low equipment and training costs to accredited campuses.
  • RightCare Foundation ensures standing orders under campus medical direction in accordance with the RightCare Foundation patient Bill of Rights and accreditation.
  • Continuous loop data sharing with accredited campuses ensures Continuous Quality Improvement.

Accredited Campuses maintain ready deployment of Emergency Response Team

Emergency Response Team will be comprised of sufficient number of trained and certified personnel as to have the ability to effectively provide Immediate Resuscitation campus wide, 24 hours per day in the event of sudden cardiac arrest. Immediate Resuscitation is defined as Continuous Compression Only CPR with the deployment/use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED) equipment per American Heart Association Guidelines. Campus specific response protocol will apply per campus medical direction.
